About us
For those looking for the secret to the exquisite beauty of our reclaimed teakwood furniture, the answer is simple. All it takes is the time and touch of Mother Nature. Antique Farm implements, yokes, plows, sugarcane grinders, and wagons from a bygone era provide the framework for the interpretations you see in our sustainable furniture today. For many years, this wood was not available to the public. Only recently has this vintage prized wood come to market. Soon demand will exceed supply, and the vintage collection you see in its purity today will be reduced to accents of varying degree.
Each piece is designed for today’s lifestyle from yesterday’s antiquities. The rich colors and tight grains of this ancient teakwood combine to form the unique character and patina of this collection. Suited for both indoor and outdoor use, Groovystuff eco friendly furniture provides the atmosphere and character you need to create a rugged earthy look. If kept outdoors, your collectible will turn silver gray as only mature teakwood does. These hints of gray add identity to each piece, but can be easily re-nourished with a fresh coat of Briwax once a season or to your taste. Congratulations on your newest discovery.
Founded in 1997 by Chris Bruning and based in Dallas, TX, Groovystuff designs, produces, and distributes unique rustic reclaimed teak wood furniture, lighting and home decor that is eco friendly and now has grown to over seven unique collections including; Prairie, Iron Horse, Adirondack, Back to the Roots, Kodiak, Rocky Mountain, and the recently launched Antares Lighting Collection. Each group features pieces designed with the foundation of style, beauty, value, longevity, and preservation of natural resources that only reclaimed teak wood can provide.
Committed to sustainable furniture manufacturing and environmental accountability, Groovystuff’s vision is to assist its retail customers in growing their business sustainably. We believe that creating beautiful eco friendly rustic furniture, lighting and home decor through the use of reclaimed teak wood not only gives retailers a special handmade piece of furniture but also a sense of pride of protecting our planet's environment.
The University Hall of Innovation & Job Creation
The University Hall of Innovation & Job Creation is an industry co-operative founded by Chris Bruning that bridges the gap between education and the residential home furnishings industry. The University Hall provides an invaluable opportunity for students and professors to network with retailers, designers, manufacturers, suppliers, journalists, and industry professionals. To properly introduce graduates to the residential home furnishings industry, Chris Bruning created the Groovystuff Connecting Education with Industry: By Design Challenge which involves a two stage competition for design students. In stage one of the contest, students compete for the "popular vote" and a cash prize at the High Point or Las Vegas wholesale furniture markets where Groovystuff maintains permanent showrooms. Students submit a 20" x 30" product board; a 1/4" scale model, and a 42" tall pedestal for display and presentation to retailers, designers, and trade professionals attending the markets. Stage Two of the process sees the winning innovative designs from Stage One put into production and launched six months later at the following wholesale market. Those Student prototypes then compete for the grand prize of "Most Orders Written at Market" and the winner rewarded with an additional cash prize, inclusion in the celebrity endorsed Dick Idol Legends Collection, permanent royalties for life, and motivation to join the residential home furnishings industry.
